About this artwork
Here the subject is the sky itself. A pale, dusty river of light — the Milky Way — runs diagonally from the upper right towards the centre, its core thick with tiny stars and threaded with darker lanes. All around, the indigo is speckled with stars of every size, a few of them flaring gold with four fine points.
The lower half turns to cloud: gold-leaf texture rising on the left, a vivid teal plume on the right and layers of rose and smoky lilac beneath. The upper sky is left open and uncluttered, which gives the design a sense of depth and quiet. As Milky Way wall art, it evokes the feeling of standing somewhere truly dark and looking up — something many of us rarely get to do — and it brings that stillness into everyday rooms.
About the Milky Way
The Milky Way is our home galaxy, a barred spiral of stars, gas and dust roughly 100,000 light-years across. Estimates put its population at between 100 and 400 billion stars. The Sun lies in a minor spiral arm, the Orion Arm, about 26,000 light-years from the centre. The glowing band we see across a dark sky is the galaxy's disc viewed edge-on from inside; the dark rifts within it are clouds of interstellar dust blocking the light of more distant stars.

Questions & answers
Why can't I see the Milky Way from home?
Most likely because of light pollution. Streetlights and city glow drown out the faint band, so it is best seen from dark rural sites on moonless nights. This print brings that dark-sky view indoors.
Is the Milky Way a galaxy?
Yes. The Milky Way is the name of our own galaxy, the one the Sun and Earth belong to. The bright band in the night sky is how that galaxy looks from our position inside its flat disc.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
