About this artwork

Fine gold lines link a scatter of bright, sharply pointed stars into a striding figure with one arm raised, drifting across the centre of the frame. A dark silhouette among the stars suggests the hunter's head. This is Orion interpreted freely, as a decorative constellation drawing rather than a plotted chart, and its open, angular shape gives the whole design a sense of movement.

The Milky Way runs along the top right, while clouds of gold-leaf texture and teal crowd the upper left corner, balanced by teal and dusty rose billows at the bottom right. Between them lies plenty of deep indigo sky, sprinkled with small stars. This Orion constellation print celebrates one of the most familiar patterns of winter evenings in the Northern Hemisphere, and makes a thoughtful gift for a stargazer or anyone named after the hunter.

About Orion

Orion is one of the most recognisable constellations in the sky. Because it lies across the celestial equator, it can be seen from almost everywhere on Earth. Its brightest stars are blue-white Rigel and the red supergiant Betelgeuse. Three stars in a row — Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka — form Orion's Belt, and below them hangs the Sword, home of the Orion Nebula. In Greek mythology, Orion was a giant hunter, later placed among the stars.

How to style it

Suits a bedroom, study or teenager's room with navy, charcoal or cream walls; pair it with the Ursa Major design for two classic constellations, or with the nebula print for a deep-sky theme. Explore the full Celestial Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers

Is the star pattern exactly like the real Orion?

No. The figure is an artistic interpretation of the hunter, drawn for flow and balance rather than plotted from star positions. To find the real constellation, look for the three bright stars of Orion's Belt on a clear winter evening.

When is Orion visible?

In the Northern Hemisphere, Orion is best seen on winter evenings, roughly from December to March, when it rises in the east and crosses the southern sky. In the Southern Hemisphere it appears in summer, upside down compared with the northern view.

Is a frame included?

Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.

Which size should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.

How is my print made and shipped?

Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
