About this artwork
Cool blue dominates this design. A broad stream of sapphire and powder-blue haze flows diagonally from the upper right towards the lower centre, and through it shine brilliant blue-white stars, each with crisp starburst rays. The largest blazes on the right like a jewel, with two bright companions in the upper left.
Along the left edge, a column of cloud in gold-leaf texture, teal and dusty pink rises from the bottom, adding warmth to the otherwise icy palette. Tiny scattered stars fill the remaining indigo. The look is crisp and luminous, quieter than the gold-centred designs. This Pleiades print is inspired by the famous blue-tinted star cluster rather than charting its exact stars, making it a graceful choice for bedrooms, bathrooms and studies, and a meaningful gift linked to the many legends of the Seven Sisters.
About the Pleiades
The Pleiades, also called the Seven Sisters or M45, is an open star cluster in the constellation Taurus, about 440 light-years away. It has many hundreds of member stars, but only six or seven are easily visible to the naked eye. Its brightest members are young, hot blue stars, and the blue haze around them is a reflection nebula: dust the cluster is drifting through, lit by starlight. In Japan the cluster is called Subaru.
How to style it
Beautiful in a bedroom, bathroom or study with cool blues, greys or white; pair it with the star cluster design to compare an open and a globular cluster, or with the Neptune print. Explore the full Celestial Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers
Can you see the Pleiades with the naked eye?
Yes. The Pleiades look like a small, misty, dipper-shaped group of stars, easiest to spot on autumn and winter evenings in the Northern Hemisphere. Most people see six stars; under very dark skies, sharp eyes can pick out more.
Why are the Pleiades called the Seven Sisters?
The name comes from Greek mythology, in which the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the sea-nymph Pleione. Many other cultures, including Aboriginal Australian and Indigenous North American traditions, also tell stories of sisters or a group of young women in these stars.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
