About this artwork
The pointed stone arches of a Brooklyn Bridge tower frame this view like a cathedral window. Through the central opening, the Empire State Building rises in glowing gold, with the Chrysler Building's terraced, sunburst crown just to its right. More towers in coral, rose and magenta fill the side arches, and steel cables fall in fine lines across the frame.
The sky blazes pink and peach, with the sun low on the left behind the skyline. Below, the East River glitters gold and teal, and the timber walkways of the bridge lead in from the lower corners. Patches of turquoise and magenta enliven the weathered stonework. This New York wall art is all about framing and scale. The city's name runs across the water in a classic serif, United States set in capitals beneath.
About the Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883, linking Manhattan and Brooklyn across the East River. Designed by John A. Roebling, it was completed after his death by his son Washington Roebling, with crucial help from Emily Warren Roebling. At the time it was the longest suspension bridge in the world and one of the first to use steel wire for its cables. Its stone towers, pierced by pointed Gothic arches, are its signature, and an elevated promenade lets walkers cross above the traffic.

Questions & answers
Which skyscrapers can be seen through the arches?
The Empire State Building in the centre and the Chrysler Building just to its right, both glowing gold at sunset. The surrounding towers are painterly impressions of Manhattan rather than exact portraits of specific buildings.
When did the Brooklyn Bridge open?
In 1883. Designed by John A. Roebling and completed by Washington and Emily Warren Roebling, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened and still carries traffic and pedestrians between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
