About this artwork
Seen from the stone quay of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower rises in burnished amber, its iron lattice catching the last direct light of the day. The sun sits low to its left, setting the horizon gold, while the upper sky shifts to violet and lilac, with pink clouds drifting on the right.
An arched stone bridge crosses the river in the middle distance, and trees cluster along the far bank. Golden leaves hang in from the top left corner, hinting at early autumn. The Seine fills the lower half with turquoise water broken by long reflections of orange and magenta. This Paris wall art is romantic without being sugary: soft, luminous and calm. About the Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel's engineering company for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, the world's fair marking the centenary of the French Revolution. Made of wrought iron, it was criticised by many artists at first, yet it became the defining symbol of Paris. It remained the tallest man-made structure in the world until the Chrysler Building surpassed it in 1930. The tower stands on the Champ de Mars beside the Seine and is repainted every few years in a bronze-brown shade.

What colour is the Eiffel Tower really?
A bronze-brown shade known as Eiffel Tower brown, applied in graduated tones that are darker at the base and lighter towards the top. In this print the low sun turns that brown into glowing amber and orange.
Which bridge appears in the Paris print?
It is a painterly stone bridge over the Seine, inspired by the arched crossings near the tower rather than a precise portrait of one bridge. Its arches lead the eye from the riverbank towards the Eiffel Tower.
Is a frame included?
