About this artwork
A handful of split logs burn on dark ground, crossed over one another, their surfaces charred into bright and black checks. Pale flames lick up through the middle, and a column of smoke climbs into the night, carrying dozens of sparks that streak upward like falling stars in reverse.
"From the Ashes" is set across the base of the fire in two lines of silver capitals, followed by a gold rule and the two-word italic line "We rise." The fire is still burning, which gives the image a sense of both loss and renewal. This phoenix quote print speaks to recovery: after illness, a business failure, a breakup or a hard year. It works as a gift that marks a fresh start without being sentimental.
The Idea Behind From the Ashes
"From the ashes" draws on the phoenix, the mythical bird of classical legend, linked by Greek writers to Egypt, which in later versions of the story bursts into flame and is reborn from its own ashes. The image has become shorthand for renewal after destruction, used by cities, companies and individuals rebuilding after disaster. "We rise" completes the thought in two words. The meaning is not that loss was good, but that what comes after can be stronger.

Questions & answers
What does "From the ashes we rise" mean?
It means recovering and growing stronger after a loss or setback. The phrase borrows from the phoenix legend, in which the bird is reborn from the ashes of its own fire.
Is this a suitable gift after a difficult time?
Yes. It acknowledges that something has been lost while pointing firmly forward, which makes it a considered gift after recovery, redundancy, a breakup or rebuilding a business.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
