About this artwork
A broad golden moon sits high in the frame, its craters and dark lunar seas picked out in warm amber and honey tones. Around it the night deepens to indigo, scattered with pinpoint stars and a few brighter four-pointed sparks, while a hazy band of the Milky Way drifts down the left side.
The lower third dissolves into heaped cloud: teal and dusty rose layered with a gold-leaf effect that catches the eye from across a room. About the Full Moon
A full moon happens when the Moon sits on the far side of Earth from the Sun, so the whole face turned towards us is lit. The cycle from one full moon to the next takes about 29.5 days. Because the Moon is tidally locked, we always see the same side. Its darker patches are the maria, Latin for seas — vast plains of ancient, solidified volcanic lava that early observers mistook for water.

Questions & answers
Is the moon in this print a photograph?
No. It is an original digital artwork by ITCLabStudio with a painterly, textured finish. The lunar surface is interpreted in gold tones rather than reproduced from a telescope image, which keeps it warm and decorative.
Why does the full moon look so bright?
It looks bright because its entire Earth-facing side is lit by the Sun at once. Moonlight is simply reflected sunlight; the lunar surface itself is fairly dark, closer in tone to worn asphalt than to snow.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
