About this artwork
A clump of irises grows in the lower left corner, with a dense fan of sharp green leaves and several flowers in deep blue-violet, their petals marked with touches of white and yellow. Slim closed buds point upward among the blooms.
Behind them, a weathered wooden plank bridge cuts diagonally across the lower right, with a single post marking its edge. The sky takes up most of the frame: rich blue at the top, crossed by stylised cloud bands in sage and sand, softening to cream and then a warm terracotta glow near the bridge. The angled bridge and upright leaves create a pleasing tension. This iris art print has the refined, decorative feel of classic Japanese screen designs, translated into a calm modern palette.
Irises in Japanese Art
Irises and plank bridges have been linked in Japanese art since The Tales of Ise, in which a traveller composes a poem beside irises at Yatsuhashi, the place of eight bridges. Ogata Kōrin's famous Irises folding screens, a National Treasure held by the Nezu Museum in Tokyo, drew on that story. Japanese iris gardens still lay zigzag plank walkways through the beds, and the flowers bloom from late spring into early summer.

Questions & answers
Is this print inspired by Kōrin's Irises?
It is inspired by the same tradition of irises beside a plank bridge that Ogata Kōrin made famous, but it is an original ITCLabStudio composition, not a copy of his screens.
What colours does the iris print use?
Deep blue-violet flowers and fresh green leaves lead, set against a blue sky with sage and sand clouds that softens to cream and terracotta. The weathered wood bridge adds a warm neutral note.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
