About this artwork
A tall, narrow waterfall drops through a dark cleft in the rock at the centre of the image, falling in a straight white column into a churning blue pool. The cliff walls on either side are built from layered planes of cream, grey and near-black stone, patched with moss and leafy green trees.
Warm terracotta boulders frame the pool at the lower left and right, and a spray of bright foliage sits in the bottom corner, drawing the eye down to the water. A glimpse of blue sky shows at the top of the gorge. This is one of the more detailed designs in the collection, yet the strong central line of falling water keeps it orderly. As a waterfall art print, it brings a sense of coolness and fresh air to a room.
Waterfalls in Japanese Art
Waterfalls hold a special place in Japanese landscape art and religion. Hokusai devoted a whole series, A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces, to them in the 1830s. In Shinto and mountain worship, some falls are revered as sacred: Nachi Falls in Wakayama, with a drop of about 133 metres, is honoured as a deity at Kumano Nachi Taisha. Standing beneath falling water, known as takigyō, is still practised as a form of purification.
How to style it
Fits bathrooms, studies and plant-filled living rooms with green, stone and natural wood accents. Pairs with the bamboo grove or windswept pine designs for a nature-heavy gallery wall. Explore the full Japandi Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers
What feeling does a waterfall print bring to a room?
It brings freshness and a sense of flowing energy. The falling white water and cool blues read as clean and refreshing, which is why waterfall art is a popular choice for bathrooms, studies and wellness spaces.
Is this print based on a real waterfall?
No. The scene is original and draws on the long tradition of waterfall views in Japanese prints rather than depicting a specific named fall.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
