About this artwork
A slender five-storey pagoda stands on the right, perched near the crest of a broad green hillside dotted with small dark pines. Its tiered roofs and tall spire are drawn in warm wood tones, catching the early light. Across the valley, a thick sea of white cloud fills the middle distance, with a faint ridge just visible beneath it.
On the left, Mount Fuji rises clear of the mist, its snow cap crisp against a sky that glows peach at the horizon and deepens to indigo at the top. The hill, the tower and the mountain form a simple triangle of interest, balanced by wide open space. This pagoda wall art captures the hush of a high place at dawn, when the world below is still hidden.
About the Five-Storey Pagoda
Pagodas came to Japan with Buddhism in the sixth century, developing from the Indian stupa built to hold sacred relics. The five tiers of a gojunoto are often said to represent earth, water, fire, wind and sky. The pagoda at Hōryū-ji in Nara is among the oldest surviving wooden buildings in the world. Today the Chureito Pagoda in Fujiyoshida, framed against Mount Fuji, is one of Japan's most recognisable views.

Questions & answers
Is this the Chureito Pagoda?
Not exactly. The design is an original composition, though the pairing of a five-storey pagoda with Mount Fuji echoes famous real views such as the Chureito Pagoda in Fujiyoshida.
What mood does this pagoda print create?
It creates a quiet, airy calm. The sea of cloud, open sky and soft dawn colours give the feeling of looking out from a high place early in the morning, which suits restful rooms.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
