About this artwork
A main peak and its neighbouring ridges rise in the upper half of the frame, their slopes shading from indigo at the summit through green to sand at the foot. Sharp, angular strokes describe gullies and rock, while paler ranges recede into the distance on the right.
Below, the mountains dissolve into a broad field of mist, and a thin pale-blue river winds down from the middle of the image toward the bottom left corner. The ground warms from cream into terracotta as it approaches the lower edge, and the sky above carries soft gold cloud bands under a strip of deep blue. This mountain landscape print gives a sense of distance and scale with very few elements, which keeps it calm and grounding.
About Hiroshige and the Japanese Landscape
Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) was one of the great landscape artists of the ukiyo-e era, celebrated for series such as The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō. His prints are known for atmosphere: mist, rain, snow and soft gradations of colour created with the bokashi technique. Hiroshige's work later inspired European artists, including Vincent van Gogh, who made painted copies of his prints. This design draws on that tradition rather than any single work.

Questions & answers
What is bokashi?
Bokashi is a woodblock printing technique that creates a smooth gradation of colour, often used for skies and water. This design uses a bokashi-style gradient to move from deep blue to warm cream and terracotta.
Is this mountain print good for a large wall?
Yes. The open composition and soft gradients read clearly from across a room, and the wide areas of mist give the eye space to rest, so it works as a calm centrepiece above a sofa or bed.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
