About this artwork
Rows of clipped tea bushes sweep across the hills in long, rounded bands, each one shaded in fresh and deep greens with a strip of bare earth between. In the foreground, individual tea leaves are drawn large and glossy along the bottom edge, giving the scene a strong sense of depth.
Banks of white mist drift between the slopes, half hiding clusters of dark pines. On a wooded ridge in the upper left a slender pagoda rises above the trees, while distant blue and terracotta mountains line the horizon under a sky moving from peach to blue. This tea field art print is one of the most textured designs in the collection, yet its repeating curves make it feel orderly and soothing, like a well-tended garden.
About Japanese Green Tea
Tea arrived in Japan from China, and the Zen monk Eisai is credited with popularising it after returning from his studies there in the late twelfth century. Today green tea is grown across much of the country, with Shizuoka and Kagoshima among the main producing regions and Uji, near Kyoto, famous for fine matcha. The bushes are pruned into rounded rows, and the first spring harvest, shincha, is especially prized.
How to style it
A natural fit for kitchens, dining rooms and tea corners, as well as offices with green plants and natural wood. Pairs with the rice terraces or bamboo grove designs for a green landscape set. Explore the full Japandi Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers
Is this a Japanese tea plantation?
Not a specific one. The design is inspired by Japan's tea-growing hills, where bushes are trimmed into long curving rows, rather than any named farm or region.
Where does a tea hills print look best?
Kitchens, dining rooms and tea corners are natural homes for it, but its fresh greens also suit offices and living rooms with plants, linen and pale or medium wood.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
