About this artwork
Eight moons descend the centre of the composition in a single, evenly spaced column. At the top, two crescents curve out of the darkness; beneath them a half-lit moon gives way to a run of full golden discs, each finely cratered and softly glowing. The rhythm is quiet and deliberate, like counting nights.
Behind the column, the Milky Way slants across a dense blue starfield, punctuated by a handful of bright gold stars. At the base, clouds of teal and blush pink roll in beside a sweep of gold-leaf texture, warming the cool palette. This moon phases wall art suits narrow walls and stairways particularly well, because the vertical line draws the eye upward. It also works as a gentle reminder of cycles — growth, fullness and renewal — without leaning on any text.
The Moon's Phases
The Moon makes no light of its own; it reflects sunlight. As it orbits Earth, we see different portions of its sunlit half, producing the familiar cycle: new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter and waning crescent. Waxing means the lit part is growing; waning means it is shrinking. From the Northern Hemisphere, a waxing moon is lit on its right-hand side.
How to style it
Its tall, linear layout is made for narrow walls, landings and the space beside a mirror; group it with the full moon or crescent moon designs for a lunar gallery wall in a calm, boho or Scandinavian-style interior. Explore the full Celestial Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers
Is this an exact scientific chart of the lunar cycle?
No, it is an artistic interpretation. The eight moons wax from crescents to a series of full golden discs, arranged for rhythm and glow rather than as a precise phase-by-phase diagram. As decor, it reads clearly as the lunar cycle.
How long does the Moon take to go through all its phases?
About 29.5 days. This span, from one new moon to the next, is called a synodic month, and the English word month shares its ancient root with the word moon.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
