About this artwork

A small blond hero in a red cape, blue shorts and brown boots stands at the edge of a grassy cliff, looking out at the adventure ahead. Islands of earth and grass float in the air around him, and waterfalls spill from their edges in bright white columns, gathering into a river far below. On the right, a castle with red turrets and pennants crowns a tall rocky hill, with a smaller stone tower on the floating island beneath it.

The sky does most of the talking: a pale sun sinking into bands of orange and gold, with chunky pink clouds stacked above. Golden sparks drift through the scene like fireflies. Everything is built from visible square pixels, the deliberate blocky look of 16-bit era games, so this pixel art print reads clearly from across a room and rewards a closer look. It feels like the opening screen of a long, good quest.

About Pixel Art

Pixel art is made by placing individual pixels on a grid, a technique born from the limits of early computer and console hardware. During the 16-bit era, from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, games could show far more colours than before, yet artists still worked with small sprites and tight palettes, so every pixel had to count. Many independent games have since revived the style by choice, valuing its clarity, charm and sense of nostalgia.

How to style it

A natural fit for a games room, a child's bedroom or a playful home office, and its warm sunset tones sit easily with wood and white walls. Together with the dragon battle design it builds a fantasy-quest wall. Explore the full Neon Gamer Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers

Is this pixel art from a real video game?

No. Pixel Quest at Sunset is an original scene designed by ITCLabStudio in a 16-bit style. The hero, the castle and the floating islands were created for this print and are not taken from any existing game.

What does 16-bit mean?

16-bit refers to a generation of game consoles and home computers from the late 1980s and early 1990s, named after their 16-bit processors. Their games are remembered for colourful, detailed pixel art, which this design echoes.

Is a frame included?

Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.

Which size should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.

How is my print made and shipped?

Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
