About this artwork

On a dark rocky outcrop, a young adventurer in a hooded teal cloak and worn leather armour grips a sword that blazes electric cyan. Beyond the ledge, an enormous dragon is perched on a jagged peak, claws gripping the stone. Its scales are deep purple, its eyes burn red, and its open jaws show rows of teeth around a glowing red mouth. Crimson wings spread almost edge to edge across the top of the frame.

Magenta flame curls around the dragon's horns and body like living energy, and orange embers drift through a stormy violet sky, where a band of sunset still glows behind the clouds. The scale is the story: the hero is small, the dragon fills the frame, and the cool cyan blade is the only answer to all that hot pink light. As fantasy dragon wall art, it captures the held breath before the final fight.

About the Dragon Boss

Dragons appear in folklore around the world. European tales usually picture them as winged, fire-breathing beasts guarding treasure, as in the Old English poem Beowulf, while East Asian dragons are wingless, serpentine and linked with water and good fortune. Video games adopted the dragon as a favourite final challenge, and the word boss came to mean the powerful enemy waiting at the end of a level or quest. Facing one is a rite of passage for any fantasy hero.

How to style it

Made for a games room, a teen bedroom or a fantasy reader's corner, especially against deep blue, plum or charcoal walls. Hung next to the pixel art quest, it shows two heroes at different stages of the same kind of journey. Explore the full Neon Gamer Wall Art collection.

Questions & answers

Is the dragon from a specific game or film?

No. Both the dragon and the young hero are original characters created by ITCLabStudio. The scene draws on the long tradition of dragon battles in myth and fantasy without borrowing from any existing story or game.

Is this print suitable for a child's room?

It suits older children and teens best. The dragon is dramatic, with glowing eyes and bared teeth, so for very young children a gentler design, such as the pixel art quest, may be the better fit.

Is a frame included?

Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.

Which size should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.

How is my print made and shipped?

Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
