About this artwork
Dark, knotted plum branches sweep in from the upper left and stretch across the frame, studded with open white flowers, blush-pink blooms and small coral buds. Behind them hangs a large full moon in pale gold, softly mottled, its light just catching the edges of the nearest petals.
The night sky is a deep indigo that lightens into teal and sage before fading to a warm, paper-textured cream across the lower half. That transition makes the print feel like a quiet evening rather than a heavy dark scene. The contrast between the near-black branches and the delicate flowers gives the image its elegance. This plum blossom print suits anyone drawn to night skies, early spring and understated drama on the wall.
The Meaning of the Plum Blossom
The ume, often called the Japanese apricot or plum, flowers in late winter, frequently while snow still lies on the ground. Its blossom has become a symbol of resilience and the first promise of spring. Before the cherry took its place, plum was the flower most admired by the early Japanese court. Japan's current era name, Reiwa, was taken from a passage in the ancient poetry anthology Man'yōshū describing a plum blossom gathering.

Questions & answers
What is the difference between plum and cherry blossom?
Plum blossom opens earlier, in late winter, and has rounded petals and a sweet scent. Cherry blossom follows in spring with notched petals. In Japanese art, plum stands for endurance and hope, cherry for fleeting beauty.
Is this print dark?
Only at the top. The deep indigo night fades to teal, sage and a warm cream across the lower half, so the overall effect is moody but balanced rather than dark.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
