Toucan Among Hibiscus — Tropical Jungle Art Print

About this artwork

A toucan perches on a gnarled branch just left of centre, its glossy black body picked out with strokes of navy and sky blue. A creamy yellow throat leads up to the star of the picture: an enormous bill in orange and lemon yellow, tipped with black and lit as if catching the last of the sun. A blue eye ringed in orange gives the bird an alert, curious expression, and a flash of red shows beneath its tail.

Directly above, a golden sun dissolves into ripples of pink and amber. Bird of paradise flowers point inward from both sides, salmon-pink hibiscus bloom on the left and lower right, and fiery red-orange leaves add heat along the left edge. The dense, swirling brushwork of this toucan art print, an original ITCLabStudio design in a naive folk-art style, keeps the eye travelling around the whole jungle rather than resting in one spot.

About Toucans

Toucans are fruit-eating birds of the tropical Americas, ranging from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. Their oversized bills look heavy but are surprisingly light, made of keratin over a honeycomb-like inner structure. Research on the toco toucan, the largest species, found that the bill also helps the bird shed body heat. Toucans nest in tree hollows and often move through the canopy in small, noisy groups.

How to style it

A cheerful choice for kitchens, playrooms and colourful living rooms, especially against white, sage or coral walls. It hangs well beside the scarlet macaws or the flamingo lagoon for a bird-themed wall. Explore the full Tropical Jungle Wall Art collection.
