Twilight turns everything pink and gold in this Åre ski poster. A broad, rounded mountain fills the centre of the picture, its snowy dome streaked with flame-like bands of red on the upper slopes and deep navy shadow lower down. Pink clouds float on either side, the horizon glows orange, and the upper sky deepens to blue.
At its foot lies a frozen lake, the ice crazed with white cracks and lit by long golden reflections. A line of tiny skiers carrying lights traces the far shore in front of dark pines. Closer in, two smiling skiers in red jackets, navy trousers and goggles glide along a snowy bank, each holding a ski pole topped with a glowing lamp that throws warm light across the snow. A cream band at the top of the finished print spells out Åre in red geometric capitals, with Sweden in small navy letters.
About Åre
Åre is a village in the mountains of western Jämtland, Sweden, set on the shore of the lake Åresjön beneath the broad, rounded summit of Åreskutan. It is one of Scandinavia's largest and best-known ski resorts, and has drawn winter visitors since the railway reached the valley in the late 19th century. Its northern position brings short, blue-tinged days in midwinter and long, bright evenings for spring skiing. In summer, the same fells, lakes and forests are popular for hiking and mountain biking.
How to style it

What are the lights the skiers are carrying?
They are glowing lamps on the tips of their ski poles, an imagined touch that captures the magic of skiing as daylight fades in a northern winter. Their reflections stretch across the frozen lake, adding warmth to the pink and blue twilight.
Which mountain is shown in the Åre poster?
