About this artwork
A quiet moment at the end of the day is the subject of this Cortina d'Ampezzo ski poster. A skier in a red suit and cap, with a navy rucksack, stands with poles planted at the top of a slope, looking out across the valley. Ahead, a wall of Dolomite towers burns red and orange in the last of the sun, their snowy ledges picked out in white.
To the right, a tall stone bell tower rises above the treeline, with bells visible in its arched openings and a navy spire crowned by a gold ball and cross. The sun sinks low behind it into a sky streaked with yellow, orange and red, while the upper sky stays a deep blue. Dark firs fill the valley, and a wooden chalet sits on the far slope. The cream title band at the top reads Cortina d'Ampezzo in red geometric capitals, with Italy in small navy type.
About Cortina d'Ampezzo
Cortina d'Ampezzo is a mountain town in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy, in the province of Belluno, set in the wide Ampezzo valley of the Dolomites. Often called the Queen of the Dolomites, it is ringed by famous peaks, including the Tofane, Cristallo, Sorapiss and the Cinque Torri. The slender bell tower of its parish basilica, dedicated to Saints Philip and James, rises above the town centre. The Dolomites became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009, and their pink glow at dusk is known locally as enrosadira.
How to style it
Its warm sunset palette suits a living room or study with terracotta, rust or ochre accents and natural wood. Pair it with the Val Gardena and Madonna di Campiglio designs for a Dolomites trio. Explore the full Vintage Ski Posters collection.

Questions & answers
Why do the mountains in the Cortina poster look red?
They show the Dolomites at sunset, when the pale rock often glows pink, orange and red, an effect known in the region as enrosadira. The design exaggerates the colour into bold, flat shapes in true poster style.
Is the bell tower in the Cortina poster based on a real one?
It is inspired by the tall campanile of Cortina's parish basilica, which rises above the town centre. Like the rest of the scene, it is a stylised interpretation rather than an architectural drawing.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
