About this artwork
A small hedgehog walks from right to left on tiny brown feet, nose pointed forward and whiskers twitching. A single golden leaf, veined and pointed like a maple, has landed on its spines and rides along just behind its ear, as if the hedgehog has decided to carry it home. Bright black eyes and a pointed brown snout give the face a curious, friendly look.
The spines are drawn as hundreds of fine strokes in warm brown, cream and soft sage green, fanning back from the brow. Beneath the little animal, a loose pool of ochre and dusty blue suggests a damp woodland floor. The warm off-white background stays empty, so the yellow leaf becomes a cheerful spot of colour. Gentle enough for a baby's room and playful enough for a growing child, this hedgehog nursery print is an original digital design by ITCLabStudio.
About Hedgehogs
Hedgehogs are small, mostly nocturnal mammals covered in stiff spines, native to Europe, Asia and Africa. When threatened, a hedgehog tucks in its head and legs and rolls into a tight, prickly ball. At night it snuffles through hedgerows, gardens and woodland edges, eating beetles, caterpillars, worms and other small creatures. In colder parts of Europe, hedgehogs hibernate through winter in nests built from fallen leaves, which makes an autumn leaf a fitting companion. Babies are called hoglets.

Questions & answers
Why is the hedgehog carrying a leaf?
It is a playful storybook detail. Hedgehogs gather fallen leaves to build their winter nests, so a golden leaf caught on its spines hints at autumn and at the snug hibernation nest a real hedgehog would make.
Which nursery colours go with the hedgehog print?
Warm neutrals, sage green, mustard and soft terracotta all suit it. The golden leaf picks up ochre and mustard accents, while the sage-tinted spines blend with green walls, natural wood cots and linen bedding.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
