About this artwork
A small timber cabin sits in a clearing in this Black Forest print, its pitched roof, chimney and front steps half framed by towering pines. A rustic wooden fence trails off to the left, and a dirt path winds from the foreground up to the door between rough grass, low shrubs and mossy boulders.
Behind the cabin, white mist rolls through the trees and up a forested slope. On the left, shafts of golden light slant down between the dark trunks, catching the haze. The sky above the canopy is dramatic: a deep crimson cloud mass, olive-green air and slate-blue storm clouds lit along their edges. The brushwork is dense and textured, and the mood is hushed, the kind of hidden forest home that feels straight out of an old fairy tale, where the path is the only way in.
About the Black Forest
The Black Forest, or Schwarzwald, is a wooded mountain range in Baden-Württemberg, south-west Germany, bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. Its name comes from its dense, dark conifer forests. Its highest summit is the Feldberg, and the source streams of the Danube rise on its eastern side. The region is known for traditional farmhouses with deep roofs, cuckoo clocks and Black Forest gateau, and for long-distance walking trails such as the Westweg.

Questions & answers
Is the cabin a traditional Black Forest farmhouse?
Not exactly. It is a simple timber cabin with a pitched roof rather than the large, deep-roofed farmhouses typical of the region. The setting, tall conifers, mist and a hidden clearing, is inspired by the Black Forest's dark woodland.
What light effect appears in the Black Forest print?
Sunbeams. Shafts of golden light slant down through the pines on the left and catch the mist, giving the clearing a soft, almost magical glow against the darker trees.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
