About this artwork
A single wooden rowing boat floats on turquoise water near the centre of this Swiss Alps print, a mooring rope trailing behind it and faint ripples spreading around its hull. The lake is clear enough to show stones beneath the surface near the shore, where a few large boulders and a small shrub sit on the left.
Steep cliffs crowned with dark pines close in on both sides like stage curtains, opening onto a forested valley and a ring of jagged peaks beyond. Clouds drift through the middle of the mountains, so the summits seem to float above them, touched with burgundy and violet. The sky glows gold and ochre beneath a swirl of deep crimson cloud, and the lake throws that warmth back in a long reflection. It is one of the quietest scenes in the collection, made for slowing down.
About Lake Oeschinen
Lake Oeschinen, or Oeschinensee, is a mountain lake above the village of Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. It lies at the foot of the Blüemlisalp massif, whose cliffs and glaciers rise steeply around its shores. A gondola from Kandersteg brings visitors within walking distance of the water, and in summer rowing boats can be hired on the lake. In winter it freezes over and becomes a quiet spot for walking and ice fishing.
How to style it
Calming in a bedroom, bathroom or living room with sage, teal or soft white walls. Pair it with Lago di Braies for a matching set of Alpine lakes. Explore the full Moody Vintage Landscapes collection.

Questions & answers
Where is Lake Oeschinen?
In the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, above the village of Kandersteg in the canton of Bern. It sits in a high basin beneath the Blüemlisalp peaks and is reached by gondola and a short walk, or on foot from the valley.
Is the water really that colour?
Lake Oeschinen is known for its striking turquoise and blue-green water. The design keeps that signature colour and sets it against burgundy, gold and slate tones for a richer, vintage mood.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
