About this artwork
Two enormous trunks frame this Pacific Northwest forest print like the pillars of a gateway, their red-brown bark wrapped in thick moss and hung with trailing lichen. At their roots, big sword-like ferns fan out in vivid green, and a small stream runs between them over dark stones.
The eye follows the water back into the forest, where rows of tall conifers fade layer by layer into pale mist. The light is soft and green, deepening to near-black in the shadows. Through a gap in the canopy, the sky glows ochre and gold against slate-blue clouds, catching on the wet surface of the stream below. Everything feels damp, old and still, a cathedral of trees rendered in rich, textured brushwork with a gentle vintage warmth that softens the deep greens.
About Pacific Northwest Rainforests
Along the Pacific coast of North America, from Oregon and Washington into British Columbia, heavy rainfall supports some of the world's largest temperate rainforests. Their old-growth stands include giant Sitka spruce, western hemlock, Douglas fir and western red cedar, their branches thick with mosses, lichens and ferns. One of the best-known examples is the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park, Washington, where trails wind beneath moss-draped trees beside clear streams.
How to style it
Calming in a bedroom, bathroom or home office with sage, moss or deep green walls and natural materials. It pairs with the Black Forest cabin for a woodland pair. Explore the full Moody Vintage Landscapes collection.

Questions & answers
Which forest does the print show?
It shows an imagined old-growth forest in the style of the Pacific Northwest, rather than a single named grove. Giant mossy trees, ferns and a misty stream reflect places such as the Hoh Rain Forest in Washington's Olympic National Park.
Is the Pacific Northwest forest print very dark?
It is deep and shadowy at the edges, but the stream and the glowing sky in the centre draw light into the scene. It reads best on a wall with some daylight or a nearby lamp.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
