About this artwork

Fresh powder and speed are everything in this St. Anton ski poster. A skier in a bright red one-piece suit, black helmet, white goggles and white gloves leans hard into a turn on a steep slope, red skis biting into the snow and poles held out for balance. A wide spray of powder bursts up behind, scattering across the slope in dots of white and pale blue.

Above, a sharp rocky peak rises in brown-grey buttresses streaked with snow, flanked by softer white summits on the left. Dark firs stand in clusters on both sides, and a line of trees runs up the right-hand edge of the slope. A huge golden sun, cropped by the corner, flares at the top right of a clear blue sky. The finished print places St. Anton in large red geometric capitals on a cream band at the top, with Austria in small navy letters beneath.

About St. Anton am Arlberg

St. Anton am Arlberg is a village in the Austrian state of Tyrol, in the Stanzertal valley at the eastern foot of the Arlberg pass, close to the border with Vorarlberg. It is often called a cradle of alpine skiing: in 1921 the ski pioneer Hannes Schneider founded a ski school here, and his Arlberg technique shaped how skiing was taught around the world. The railway through the Arlberg tunnel, opened in 1884, brought early visitors. Today St. Anton is known for steep, demanding slopes, deep off-piste powder and a famously lively après-ski.

How to style it

Made for a home office, a gym or a boot room where its energy can do some work, and sharp in a black metal frame. Pair it with the Lech design for an Arlberg duo, or with Niseko for a celebration of powder snow. Explore the full Vintage Ski Posters collection.

Questions & answers

Is the peak in the St. Anton poster a real mountain?

It is a stylised peak inspired by the steep, rocky summits of the Arlberg above St. Anton rather than a portrait of one particular mountain. The rock and snow are simplified into bold shapes in the manner of a mid-century ski poster.

Is the St. Anton poster a good gift for an expert skier?

Yes. St. Anton is known for steep slopes and deep powder, and the carving skier and flying snow capture that spirit, making it a fitting gift for anyone who loves off-piste days, freeride or one last hard run before après-ski.

Is a frame included?

Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.

Which size should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.

How is my print made and shipped?

Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
