Everyone is on the move in this Val d'Isère ski poster. A crowd of skiers pours down a wide, sunlit piste in long diagonal lines, from tiny figures high on the slope to a skier in the foreground in a red suit with black braces and a gold helmet, crouched and carving hard. Others in navy, red and gold follow close behind, their tracks fanning out in pale blue streaks.
Behind them, a cluster of high peaks rises in crisp white and navy, and on the right a steep ridge flares in bold warm red above a band of dark firs. The sky is a deep, saturated cobalt, broken only by an eight-pointed yellow sun shaped like a star. A cream border frames the artwork, and the title band above sets Val d'Isère in large red geometric capitals, with France in small navy type.
About Val d'Isère
Val d'Isère is a high-altitude village in the Savoie department of the French Alps, near the head of the Tarentaise valley and close to the Italian border. The river Isère rises in the mountains just above it, giving the village its name. Its ski area is linked with neighbouring Tignes, and its height brings a long, reliable snow season. Beside the village lies the Vanoise National Park, created in 1963 as France's first national park, which protects glaciers, high pastures and wildlife such as the alpine ibex.
