About this artwork
Two tall lakeside houses fill the left side of the frame, one dusty pink and one ochre, with dark green shutters, an iron balcony and arched doorways topped by fan-shaped glazing. Terracotta chimneys line the roof, and a lantern hangs beside the central door. A flagstone promenade curves along the water's edge past rounded shrubs and a single cypress.
A wooden rowing boat with a white hull rests on the calm blue water, its reflection rippling below. Across the lake, a village of terracotta roofs sits at the foot of layered mountains in slate blue and olive, under a golden sky crossed by a fine vapour trail. This Lake Como poster is an original ITCLabStudio design with the poise of a 1930s art deco travel poster, completed by Varenna in navy serif capitals and Lake Como · Italy on the cream band.
About Varenna
Varenna is a village on the eastern shore of Lake Como in Lombardy, northern Italy, looking across the water towards Bellagio and Menaggio. Its pastel houses rise from a small harbour, and a lakeside walkway runs along the waterfront. Above the village stands the medieval Castello di Vezio, while the gardens of Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi slope down to the lake. Ferries link Varenna with the other lakeside towns, and the deep glacial lake is framed by the mountains of the Alpine foothills.
How to style it
Suits a calm bedroom, a reading corner or a study with soft pink, sage or navy tones. Pair it with the Kotor design for two mountain-backed waterside towns. Explore the full Vintage Travel Posters collection.

Questions & answers
Is Varenna on Lake Como?
Yes. Varenna sits on the eastern shore of Lake Como in northern Italy, in the central part of the lake where ferries cross between Varenna, Bellagio and Menaggio. The subtitle on the print reads Lake Como · Italy.
Does the print show a specific villa?
No single building is copied. The pink and ochre houses with green shutters and fanlight doors are an imagined composition based on Varenna's lakefront architecture, styled with the clean lines of an art deco travel poster.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
