A skier takes flight over the rooftops in this Kitzbühel ski poster. Dressed in a red suit with a navy bib, a gold helmet and white goggles, the skier soars down a steep white slope, skis angled and yellow poles held wide, while a spray of snow streams out behind across the blue sky.
Below, the old town gathers in a cheerful row of painted houses: brick red, cobalt blue, mustard yellow and red again, each with cream-framed windows, arched doorways and boxes of red and yellow flowers on the sills. A stone church tower climbs between them to a tall dark spire and gold cross. Snow lies thick on every roof, dark firs line the hillside, and snowy peaks rise to the right beneath a spiky golden sun. In the finished print, Kitzbühel appears in big red capitals on a cream band at the top, with Austria in small navy letters.
About Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel is a historic town in Tyrol, western Austria, set between two mountains, the Hahnenkamm and the Kitzbüheler Horn, in the Kitzbühel Alps. It received its town charter in the 13th century, and its compact medieval centre is known for brightly painted houses with steep gables and church towers. Skiing arrived in the late 19th century, and the town soon became one of Austria's best-known winter resorts. Its steep downhill course is regarded as one of the most demanding in ski racing.
