About this artwork
Powder snow is the star of this Niseko ski poster. A skier in a red jacket, navy trousers and black helmet floats down a steep slope on red skis, sending up a soft spray of white behind. The figure is small against the scenery, which makes the depth of the snow and the size of the mountain feel even greater.
Behind rises a near-perfect volcanic cone, smooth and white, with a plume of snow blowing from its summit. Tall birch trees with white bark and black markings frame the left and right edges, their bare branches tipped with snow, and snow-laden firs gather on the lower slopes. The palette is cooler than elsewhere in the collection: mostly sky blue and white, with a single spark of red and a spiky golden sun. A cream title band at the top carries Niseko in large red capitals, with Japan in small navy type.
About Niseko and Mount Yōtei
Niseko is a ski area on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan, spread across the slopes of Mount Niseko Annupuri. Across the valley rises Mount Yōtei, a near-perfect volcanic cone often nicknamed Ezo Fuji for its likeness to Mount Fuji. Each winter, cold air from Siberia picks up moisture over the Sea of Japan and drops it on Hokkaido as heavy falls of light, dry snow, giving Niseko a worldwide reputation for powder skiing. Soaking in an onsen, a natural hot-spring bath, is part of the après-ski tradition.
How to style it
Its cool blue and white palette suits minimalist, Japandi and Scandinavian rooms, bedrooms and home offices. It pairs naturally with the Åre design for a set of snowy destinations beyond the Alps. Explore the full Vintage Ski Posters collection.

Questions & answers
Which mountain is shown in the Niseko poster?
The cone-shaped peak is inspired by Mount Yōtei, the volcano that rises across the valley from Niseko and is often compared to Mount Fuji. The design simplifies it into a smooth, snowy cone with a plume of powder at the summit.
Does the Niseko poster suit a minimalist interior?
Yes. With mostly blue and white tones, plenty of open snow and just one red figure, it feels clean and uncluttered. It works well with pale wood, white walls and either a natural wood or black metal frame.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
