About the Douro Valley
The Douro Valley in northern Portugal follows the Douro river inland from Porto towards the Spanish border. Its steep slopes are cut into terraces of vines, and the Alto Douro Wine Region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world. This is where the grapes for port wine are grown. For centuries, flat-bottomed rabelo boats carried barrels of young wine downriver to the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river from Porto, where it was aged.

What is a rabelo boat?
A rabelo is a traditional flat-bottomed wooden cargo boat from the Douro river. With its square sail and long steering oar, it once carried barrels of port wine downriver to Vila Nova de Gaia, and a few are still kept on the river today.
Is the Douro Valley print a good gift for wine lovers?

Is a frame included?
