About this artwork
A white ribbon of water spills over the edge of a sheer grassy cliff in this Faroe Islands print and falls straight into the sea, exploding into mist and spray at the bottom. The cliff face is dark rock threaded with burgundy and moss green, and rough boulders gather where the waves wash in.
Above the falls, a small village of white houses with dark and red roofs is strung along a green shelf of land, dwarfed by a steep, cone-shaped mountain rising behind it, its summit veiled in cloud. To the right, the ocean stretches out in deep slate blue, broken by two dark sea stacks, while a distant headland fades into haze. The sky glows ochre and gold beneath heavy burgundy clouds. Textured, layered brushwork gives this remote North Atlantic scene an old-world, storybook quality.
About the Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands are a group of 18 rugged islands in the North Atlantic, between Iceland, Norway and Scotland, and a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. They are known for sheer sea cliffs, grass-roofed houses, huge seabird colonies and waterfalls that drop straight into the ocean. The most famous of these is Múlafossur, which falls from the cliffs beside the tiny village of Gásadalur on the island of Vágar, a scene this design echoes.

Questions & answers
Is this a real waterfall in the Faroe Islands?
The design is an artistic interpretation inspired by Faroese waterfalls that drop straight into the sea, such as Múlafossur at Gásadalur. Details like the village layout and the peak behind it are composed freely for mood rather than mapped exactly.
What makes the Faroe Islands print feel moody?
Its palette and weather. A deep slate sea, burgundy-threaded cliffs and heavy clouds lit gold from below create drama, while the bright white waterfall and tiny houses give the eye a calm place to rest.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
