About this artwork
A little elephant calf stands square on four sturdy legs, lifting its trunk high in a cheerful curl as if trumpeting hello. It looks out with a bright eye and a wide smile, its cheek flushed with a dot of rosy terracotta and two small tusks just showing. The big fan-shaped ears are washed in warm terracotta and sand, a lovely contrast to the body.
That body is soft sage green melting into dusty blue, with fine pencil-like lines tracing the wrinkles of the skin. On top of the elephant's head sits a tiny brown-and-cream songbird with a pink cheek, perfectly at ease with its large friend. A pale sandy wash under the feet is the only hint of ground. Lots of quiet space surrounds the pair, giving this baby elephant nursery print, an original digital design by ITCLabStudio, a soft and unhurried feel.
About Baby Elephants
Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth, with species in Africa and Asia. A baby elephant, called a calf, grows up in a close family herd led by an experienced older female, the matriarch, while aunts and older sisters help to look after it. At first a calf has little control over its trunk, a fused nose and upper lip, and it must practise for a long time before it can use it well for drinking, smelling and picking things up.
How to style it
A soft centrepiece for a safari or jungle nursery, above a dresser or beside a reading chair. Pair it with the giraffe and zebra designs for a gentle safari gallery wall in sage and sand. Explore the full Woodland & Safari Nursery Art collection.

Questions & answers
Is the baby elephant print gender neutral?
Yes. Sage green, dusty blue, sand and terracotta keep it soft and natural, so it suits nurseries for girls, boys or twins, as well as shared rooms. Elephants are also a popular baby shower theme with no gender colour attached.
What is the bird on the elephant's head?
It is a small storybook songbird in brown and cream with a pink cheek, rather than a specific species. It adds a sense of friendship to the scene, a big animal and a tiny one sharing a calm moment together.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
