About this artwork
A fluffy seal pup lies across the top of a smooth, rounded rock, propped on its front flippers with its head raised. Two glossy black eyes, a small dark nose and a gentle smile under a spray of whiskers make it impossible not to smile back, and a soft pink blush colours each cheek. Its hind flippers rest neatly at the far end of the rock.
The pup's thick, downy coat is mostly creamy white, with the faintest washes of sage green across its back and warm sand towards the tail. The rock below is a cool mix of slate blue and stone grey, warmed by a broad streak of terracotta on one side. Nothing else interrupts the warm off-white background. This seal pup nursery print is original digital artwork by ITCLabStudio, tender, cosy and quietly coastal.
About Seal Pups
Several seal species give birth to pups with a soft white coat called lanugo. Harp seal pups, born on Arctic sea ice, and grey seal pups, born on beaches and rocky shores around the North Atlantic, are famous for it. The fluffy coat keeps them warm while they grow plump on their mother's rich milk, and it is shed within the first weeks of life. Adult seals spend much of their time at sea but haul out onto rocks, sand or ice to rest.
How to style it
Perfect for a coastal or ocean nursery, an Arctic-themed kids' room or a soft neutral bedroom with blue and grey accents. Pair it with the polar bear cub and sea turtle designs for an ocean and Arctic set. Explore the full Woodland & Safari Nursery Art collection.

Questions & answers
Why is the seal pup white?
Many young seals, including harp and grey seal pups, are born with a fluffy white coat that keeps them warm in their first weeks. The print celebrates that soft newborn stage, adding just a hint of sage and sand to match the collection.
Does the seal pup print suit a neutral nursery?
Yes. With its creamy white pup, slate-blue rock and a single warm streak of terracotta, it fits neutral, grey, blue and green colour schemes and works for babies of any gender.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
