About this artwork
A lion cub lies stretched out on its belly, front paws placed neatly together and big round ears pricked. It looks straight out of the print with steady amber eyes and a pink nose, wearing the calm, self-assured expression of a small king. A soft white muzzle and fine whiskers keep the face young and gentle.
Its golden coat is built from layers of fine, feathery strokes, with washes of sage green drifting over the back and haunch and warm terracotta on the flank and paws. The tail curls forward along the ground and ends in a dark blue-grey tuft. There is no setting beyond a faint shadow, just warm off-white paper, which lets the cub's gaze hold the room. ITCLabStudio designed this lion cub nursery print as original digital artwork in a soft watercolour-style illustration.
About Lion Cubs
Lions are the only big cats that live in social groups, called prides, made up of related females, their cubs and a few adult males. Most wild lions live in sub-Saharan Africa, with a small population in the Gir Forest of western India. Cubs are often born with faint spots on their coats that fade as they grow, and young males begin to grow a mane as they mature. Lionesses in a pride often raise their cubs together.

Questions & answers
What does a lion cub print symbolise in a nursery?
Lions are widely associated with courage and strength, so a lion cub is a popular choice for a child's room. This one is calm rather than fierce, which suits a restful nursery while still carrying that sense of bravery.
Is the brushwork on the lion cub print raised?
No. The soft washes and fine, pencil-like fur belong to the original digital artwork by ITCLabStudio, so the printed surface is smooth. The gentle painterly texture is reproduced in detail rather than built up on the paper.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
