About this artwork
A young zebra stands side-on, facing left, with its head turned towards the viewer and a shy, friendly smile. A short brush of mane stands up along its neck, its ears are tall and peach-lined, and its long legs end in neat dark hooves planted on a pale wash of green grass. The flick of a tufted tail finishes the outline.
The stripes are drawn in soft charcoal and slate rather than stark black, which keeps the print gentle. Between them, the pale coat picks up hints of sage green, warm sand and a touch of terracotta on the flank, so the zebra belongs to the same palette as the rest of the collection. Wide margins of warm off-white surround the foal. Fine, sketchy linework finishes this zebra nursery print, an original digital artwork by ITCLabStudio in a watercolour-style illustration.
About Zebras
Zebras are members of the horse family that live in the grasslands and savanna woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. Every zebra has its own stripe pattern, much like a fingerprint, and in its first days a foal learns to recognise its mother by her stripes, scent and voice. Foals can stand and walk soon after birth, which helps them keep up with the herd. Scientists still debate exactly why zebras have stripes, with ideas ranging from deterring biting flies to helping them stay cool.
How to style it
Brings graphic interest without harshness to a safari nursery, a monochrome-and-sage kids' room or a playroom. Pair it with the baby giraffe and baby elephant designs for a savanna trio. Explore the full Woodland & Safari Nursery Art collection.

Questions & answers
Is the zebra print black and white?
Not quite. The stripes are soft charcoal and slate grey, and the pale coat between them carries gentle hints of sage, sand and terracotta. The effect is graphic but soft, so it suits calm nurseries better than a stark monochrome print.
Does the zebra foal print work as part of a set?
Yes. It is designed to hang with the other safari animals in the collection, such as the giraffe, elephant, lion and rhino, which share the same palette, line style and off-white background.
Is a frame included?
Only if you choose a framed format. The Natural Wood Frame and Black Metal Frame options arrive assembled with acrylic glazing and are ready to hang. The Unframed Art Print arrives without a frame, and the Aluminium and Wood Prints need no frame at all.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule of thumb, choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. 50 × 70 cm makes a statement above a sofa or bed, 30 × 40 cm suits shelves, desks and gallery walls. Our size guide shows every size to scale.
How is my print made and shipped?
Each print is made to order for you, then shipped with tracking from a production partner close to your address. You receive the tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves production.
